Former US President Donald Trump has been nominated for a Nobel Peace Prize after his name was put forward by Republican congresswoman Claudia Tenney, citing "historic" Abraham Accords treaty that was signed during his presidency. Republican presidential candidate and former U.S. President Donald Trump Tenney stated that Trump played a crucial role in cracking the deal signed in September 2020 between Israel, Bahrain, and the United Arab Emirates, which aimed toward normalising their ties as part of a larger goal to address ongoing tensions in the Middle East between Arab countries and Israel. "Donald Trump was instrumental in facilitating the first new peace agreements in the Middle East in almost 30 years," Tenney said in a statement to Fox News Digital. “The valiant efforts by President Trump in creating the Abraham Accords were unprecedented and continue to go unrecognized by the Nobel Peace Prize Committee, underscoring the need for his nomination today.
