A teenage boy found guilty of murdering a Central Victorian man with a disability in his home in July 2018 will spend at least the next six years in jail. Key points: Teenage boy receives 14 years' jail for the murder of John Bourke in his home in 2018 His co-accused was sentenced to three years for recklessly causing serious injury The court hears John Bourke was stomped on, kicked and punched before his death A Supreme Court trial in March last year found the then 15-year-old boy and a 17-year-old co-accused had gone to John Bourke's house while at a party nearby. He later pleaded guilty to recklessly causing serious injury and home invasion, and in December was sentenced to three years in a youth justice centre – already having served more than two years. "Access to suitable mental health care is generally more limited in adult prison than in the youth justice system," Justice Hollingworth said.
