The announcement was made in a copy of “Lady Whistledown’s society papers”, which reads: “The ton are abuzz with the latest gossip, and so it is my honour to impart to you: Bridgerton shall officially return for a second season. I do hope you have stored a bottle of ratafia for this most delightful occasion.” Actor Nicola Coughlan, who plays Penelope Featherington in the series, also celebrated the news, tweeting: “Dearest Viewers, this author is proud to announce #Bridgerton Season Two, expect much scandal indeed.” Production on season two will begin this spring. While the first season of Bridgerton centres around Daphne and her romance with the Duke of Hastings, season two will focus instead on her older brother Anthony as he looks for a wife. In Quinn’s book series, each novel focuses on a different child from the Bridgerton family, with showrunner Chris Van Dusen previously saying he would ideally like the show to run for eight seasons: one for each book.
