Supreme Court accepts Revanth Reddy’s apology for remarks on Kavitha’s bail
The HinduThe Supreme Court accepted an apology tendered by Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy on Friday for his remarks on the Court’s order granting bail to Bharat Rashtra Samithi leader K. Kavitha in the Delhi excise policy case. Viswanathan had taken stern exception to comments made by Mr. Reddy in the media that Ms. Kavitha got bail on August 27 because of a “deal” between the BRS and the Bharatiya Janata Party. On Friday, the Bench said it did not want to proceed further against the Chief Minister while adding a word of caution that “such unwarranted comments unnecessarily bring about friction… all the constitutional functionaries — the legislature, the executive, and the judiciary — should discharge their constitutional duties in the spheres earmarked for them by the Constitution”. The apex court passed the order while hearing a plea filed by BRS MLA Jagadish Reddy, represented by senior advocate Aryama Sundaram and advocate Rohini Musa, seeking a transfer of the 2015 cash-for-votes case against Mr. Revanth, represented by senior advocates Mukul Rohatgi, Siddharth Luthra and advocate Sravan Kumar, to a State outside Telangana.
