Puducherry Speaker warns officials against abstaining from Assembly proceedings

Puducherry Speaker R. Selvam on Monday warned of taking stern action against officials abstaining from the proceedings of the Assembly. “It was the duty of officials to be present in the House for the Chief Minister and Ministers to promptly reply to the issues raised by the legislators. Even when the House was not in session, Chief Minister N. Rangasamy was raising the issue of lack of administrative support given by the officials in discharging the government’s responsibilities. “The Chief Minister may show mercy to the officials but the House will take stern action against those officials who are not present.
