May was supposed to be an exciting month for Indonesian sports fans and journalists, with the country selected as the Federation Internationale de Football Association U-20 World Cup 2023 host. It was especially disappointing for female sports journalists, Aprelia Soewarto, Yusra Ismail, Femi Diah, Wina Setyawatie, Xaveria Yunita, Arin Nabila and Niken Prathivi, who'd enrolled in a Women in News and Sport Football Commentary Workshop that was scheduled to run in conjunction with the much-anticipated event. The participants also got to practice call the games from the U-20 FIFA World Cup, watching via live stream matches such as Japan versus Nigeria and Argentina versus Uzbekistan.
