Despite Foles’ return, Jaguars’ playoff hopes fizzle following continued struggles to stop the run
INDIANAPOLIS — Nick Foles’ return did little to change the Jacksonville Jaguars’ fortunes. The Jaguars’ ongoing issue — their run defense — failed them again Sunday in a miserable 33-13 defeat against the Colts at Lucas Oil Stadium. “If you look at it — whether it was missed tackles, out of gaps, whether we’re not spilling things — pretty much when a team rushes for that many yards, it’s not going to be one thing, I can tell you that,” Jacksonville coach Doug Marrone said. Jonathan Williams, until recently Indianapolis’ fourth option in the backfield behind Mack, Nyheim Hines and Jordan Wilkins, torched the Jaguars for 116 yards on 13 carries of his own. A few bright spots — Defensive end Josh Allen recorded his eighth sack of the season on the Colts’ first drive, tying Yannick Ngakoue for the franchise’s rookie record.
