Going to high school can be a tricky time for teenagers. Here's the advice Bec Sparrow is giving her son

"What advice did your parents give you before you started high school?" My son starts high school next year and he's beginning to feel like he lives in a Ted Talk thanks to my eagerness to prepare him for what can be one of the trickiest times of adolescence: Year 7. My son won't be getting a smartphone next year but even on YouTube I want to make sure he's watching clips and videos from all kinds of people who inspire, entertain and uplift him. With their brains still developing and hard-wired for novelty and reward, it's a given that our teens are going to screw up in high school. In 2024, it's disturbingly easy to make a bad judgement call that becomes very public, and it's easy for our kids to feel like there is no way back from public humiliation.
