Stringent rules for sports quota admissions
The HinduIn the background of a scam detected in admissions to MBBS course in various colleges of Telangana under the sports quota in 2017-18, the State government has framed stringent rules for admissions this year which includes a penal clause for the first time. Six out of 11 MBBS seats in sports quota, constituting 0.5% of the total intake in the course through EAMCET, were found to have been allotted on the basis of 14 bogus certificates of excellence furnished by students last year. Mr. Rao also announced hike in sports quota up to 2% in education and employment this year which has resulted in government stepping up its vigil against false certificates. The priority list will be prepared considering the best achievements in the last four years from Olympic Games right down to national championships in senior, youth, junior and sub-junior categories.
