Tamil Nadu Governor inaugurates mental health rehabilitation centre in Rameswaram
The Hindu“Instead of being dependent on governments for everything, people as a society should come forward to address certain issues they face and witness,” according to Tamil Nadu Governor R.N. Inaugurating Manolaya Mental Health Rehabilitation Centre in Rameswaram on Sunday, he said: “What makes human beings different from animals is the compassion we show towards the suffering and pain of others. When humans fail to display compassion towards their fellow beings, they cannot be counted as humans.” He added: “Our duty as a citizen and as a human being first is to care of the less fortunate.” If people affected with mental illness and other ailments were left alone in the island, they would have no place to stay or seek refuge. But, due to the efforts of people like K. Muralidharan, J. Mumtaj Begum Johnbhai and Janab A. John Bhai, who donated their land, the less fortunate people would have a place to stay and get cured, he said.
