Delhi: Newly built smog tower near Connaught Place now functional; cleans air up to 88%
India TodayDelhi’s newly built smog tower at Baba Kharag Singh Marg near Connaught Place is fully functional and the initial readings are quite positive in terms of pollution reduction. This is the first instance that comparable data of the polluted air, which is flowing inside the tower and the air coming out of it, can be compared qualitatively. Similarly, PM10 level is currently at 33.38 micron, which is 4.05 micron after cleaning, which means the air is cleaner by more than 80% on this parameter.” It is imperative to know that this smog tower cleans particulate matter of up to 0.3 micron. A team of scientists and engineers from IIT Bombay and IIT Delhi is also monitoring the functional aspect of the smog tower simultaneously and collecting data independently.
