Alappuzha: Accused acquitted, but who raped the girls?

Deccan Chronicle

Alappuzha: Who raped the three schoolgirls of Government Vocational Higher Secondary School, Ambalappuzha, who committed suicide in 2008? The question remains unanswered after the two accused youths were acquitted by the Additional District and Sessions Court, Alappuzha, recently. The autopsy reports were prepared on November 19 by Dr. P. Rema, then professor and police surgeon, department of forensic medicines, Government TD Medical College, Vanadam here, and Dr. S. Sheik Shakeer Hussain, the then lecturer in forensic medicine and assistant police surgeon of the medical college. The ten-year-old post-mortem reports of two girls, Julie Varghese, 17, and Anila Babu 17, prove that penetration had happened before the girls ended their lives. Dr. Hussian, who is currently professor in the department of forensic medicine, Government Medical College, Mulan kunnathukavu, Thrissur, did not respond to this reporter’s query about the gap between ‘healed tear’ and the death of the students.
