Death of pilgrims due to traumatic asphyxia: Forensic experts
Deccan ChronicleVIJAYAWADA: The forensic department of the Tirupati-based Sri Venkateswara Medical College has confirmed that the death of six pilgrims at TTD darshan counters was due to ‘traumatic asphyxia’. The SV Medical College forensic department head, Dr Srinivas Naik, said, “We have received six bodies including five female and one male from both SVIMS and RUIA on Wednesday night.” The doctors noticed that all the six dead had suffered a compression on their chest and abdomen as they fell to the ground. The doctors noticed abrasions on certain parts of their bodies.The Tirupati district administration had shifted them to the Sri Venkateswara Institute of Medical Sciences and also to RUIA government general hospital. Subsequently, their bodies were shifted to the Sri Venkateswara Medical College for post-mortem.The SV Medical College forensic department head, Dr Srinivas Naik, said, “We have received six bodies including five female and one male from both SVIMS and RUIA on Wednesday night.”
