BRS, BJP find fault with Caste Census
Deccan ChronicleHyderabad: BRS working president K.T. Rama Rao said the government had reduced the BC population in the state by five per cent and thereby “cut the throats of the BCs.” All the BC communities in the state are strongly protesting against this action and the government has not given an opportunity to speak on this anguish, he said. On SC categorisation, he said the BRS supported the government on this issue, but he protested the “betrayal of BCs by the government” and staged a walk out of the Legislative Assembly. BRS leader Talasani Srinivas Yadav cast doubts on the caste census data and wondered how the population of BC, SC, ST communities had fallen while that of the other castes has increased. As he quoted different figures purportedly from government sources, the minister for legislative affairs D. Sridhar Babu said the data has no sanctity.
