BRS got over 70% of all donations to regional parties in 2022-23: ADR report

Regional political parties declared the receipt of almost ₹217 crore through 2,119 donations in the financial year 2022-23, according to an analysis of 28 such parties by the Association for Democratic Reforms. About 90% of the donations — more than ₹196 crore — went to five major regional parties: the BRS, YSR-Congress, Telugu Desam Party, Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam, and the Communist Party of India. JMM donations grow exponentially The ADR analysis of this data shows that four regional parties — the DMK, Maharashtra Navnirman Sena, All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen and Apna Dal — have also provided details of donations below ₹20,000 in their contribution reports. The Jharkhand Mukti Morcha recorded a whopping 3685% growth in donations between 2021-22 and 2022-23, the highest percentage increase among regional parties, followed by the Jannayak Janta Party, the TDP.
