ICMR Data Leak: 4 Nabbed For Selling Info On Dark Web for 'Quick Money'
News 18Delhi Police has arrested four people in connection with the Indian Council of Medical Research data leak case. The move came around two months after Central probe agencies found personal details of over 81 crore Indians were leaked from the data bank of ICMR and put on sale on the dark web. Earlier this year, the Delhi police had taken suo motto cognizance of the matter after reports about the data leak surfaced. Earlier in October, in what is suspected to be the biggest data leak case, a ‘threat actor’ with a handle on X, formerly Twitter, was found advertising the database in the breached forum on dark web which involves records of 815 million Indian citizens — Aadhaar and passport information along with names, phone numbers and addresses.
