Eighth-grader’s family complained of bullying days before fatal assault, legal claim states
LA TimesOn a Friday in mid-September, Diego Stolz’s adult cousin accompanied him to a meeting with the assistant principal at Landmark Middle School in Moreno Valley. Those are the allegations outlined in a legal claim filed Monday against the Moreno Valley Unified School District on behalf of Stolz’s aunt and uncle, Juana and Felipe Salcedo. “She made a promise she didn’t keep, and it cost this kid his life.” The claim states that O’Connor has not returned to the Landmark campus since Sept. 16, nor has the district made her available for an interview with the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department, which is handling the investigation into Stolz’s death. The Moreno Valley Unified School District did not answer questions about O’Connor’s employment status or the Sept. 12 incident report. “They’ve had a long history at the school district of some really serious fights,” Ring said.
