Modi has backing of communal forces: Karat
The HinduGujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi, who is being projected as a likely prime ministerial candidate of the Bharatiya Janata Party, has the backing of the communal forces in the country, Communist Party of India general secretary Prakash Karat, alleged here on Sunday. Communal riots were on the rise in various parts of the country including Bihar and Uttar Pradesh,” Mr. Karat said Keeping the “steadily increasing danger of communal forces” in mind the Leftists are going forward with the agenda of unifying secular parties who are neither with the Congress nor with the BJP in an alternative front, he added. Coming down strongly on the neo-liberal economic policies of the UPA government, Mr. Karat said that the CPI had taken up the task to “intensify the fight of workers against the attacks on them resulting from such neo-liberal policies.” Nirupam Sen chaired the party’s State Committee two-day extended meeting that concluded on the day. Former Chief Minister Buddhadeb Bhattacharjee accused the Trinamool Congress of unleashing terror during the recently concluded rural polls, adding that the actual choice of the people could not be reflected in the recent rural polls in the State because of the joint attack of the ruling party and the State administration on them.
