Jaya Asks People To Vote Out Congress
India TV NewsPuducherry, Mar 29: AIADMK General Secretary Jayalalithaa today launched a scathing attack on the Congress Government here, accusing of failure to maintain law and order and neglecting development of the union territory. "There is no protection to life and property of the people here as law and order is in a shambles. The present Congress government has failed the students and farmers and corruption was ruling the roost everywhere as much as one could see in the UPA rule at the Centre," she told an election meeting. She appealed to the voters to support the AIADMK-All India NR Congress, led by former chief minister N Rangasamy, combine which she said would ensure law and order and promote welfare of all sections of people, control price situation and introduce quota of three per cent in employment for differently abled persons. She also promised free laptops for students on completion of school final examinations and promotion of welfare of the minorities.Projecting Rangasamy as the Chief Ministerial candidate, she said the coalition if voted to power would raise the monthly assistance for the aged and widows to Rs 1,000 and provide houses to the poor and the tsunami-hit people in the Union Territory.Although Congress was in power both at the Centre and in Puducherry, no proper industrial development had been achieved in Puducherry, she charged.Attacking the DMK, she said the party was playing a second fiddle to the Congress in Puducherry and both 'deserved to be jettisoned from power to ensure development of Puducherry.'
