’It’s Covid, not a weather update’: Govt urges people to take 3rd wave seriously
Live MintThe Union Health Ministry on Tuesday said that people were taking third wave warnings very lightly, which is a serious issue. "We would like to request to everyone — when we talk about the third wave, we are taking it as a weather update and not understanding its seriousness and our responsibilities associated with it," Lav Agarwal, Joint Secretary in Health Ministry said. "Prime Minister Modi today clearly said that we should focus on keeping third wave at bay, instead of discussing when it would come in India," Paul added. Lav Agarwal referred to scenes in hill stations and markets like Sadar Bazaar and Janpath market in Delhi, Ranganathan street in Chennai, Vilaripatti in Tamil Nadu, Sukhna Lake in Chandigarh and Bhushi Dam in Maharashtra and said that 'violations' can nullify the gains" made so far in the management of the pandemic.
