Cage placed to trap leopard that killed goats near Coimbatore

The Forest Department on Saturday placed a cage in a village near Coimbatore to trap a leopard that is believed to have killed at least eight goats of two farmers in two days and injured a few others. A team led by V. Thirumurugan, Forest Range Officer, Coimbatore range, placed the trap near the house of a farmer, whose four goats were killed by the leopard early Saturday morning. Forest officials suspect that the leopard that killed four goats on Saturday was the same animal that killed four goats of another farmer at Kempanur village early on Friday morning, as the distance between the locations was around 3 k.m. Besides killing four goats, which were also tethered in the pen, the leopard left four others injured at Kempanur on Friday.
