Lucknow: Unable to get hospital bed for 3 days, wife of retired district judge succumbs to Covid-19
India TodayUnable to get a hospital bed and even an ambulance for three days after testing positive for coronavirus, wife of a retired district judge in Uttar Pradesh's Lucknow succumbed to the virus on Thursday. Both the retired district judge, 69, and his wife, 64, had tested positive for Covid-19 three days ago but were struggling to get an ambulance or a hospital bed since then. Retired district judge Ramesh Chandra and his wife Madhu Chandra kept dialling the government helpline numbers requesting for an ambulance to take them to the hospital for treatment, While they were told multiple times that the ambulance would arrive in "five minutes", it never showed up. As per the health ministry's data released on Wednesday, 10 states, including Maharashtra, Uttar Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Karnataka and Kerala, have shown a steep rise in daily new Covid-19 cases accounting for 82.04 per cent of the fresh infections being reported in a day.
