JAN MOIR: The saddest bit of Fleabag’s finale? Having to say goodbye..
Daily MailGoodbye to darling Fleabag, who wiped her tears dry before leaving us last night with a smile and a final wave. Apparently after only two series, there is to be no more Fleabag Writer Phoebe Waller-Bridge, who also stars as Fleabag herself, gave us a finale that was redemptive, unsentimental and beautiful. Fleabag's father told her that she knew 'how to love better than any of us, that's why you find it all so painful'. For the longest time, I suspected he was a fake priest; some damaged apostate who would lead our girl down the rocky road of gins-in-tins and mendacity until they grilled together in hell. The wedding of Fleabag's father to her loathed godmother was a patchwork of comic joy, from the painting of the sisters displayed on the lawn, to the socially progressive guests and the priest's deranged homily.
