GSI scientists examine geological conditions in SLBC tunnel to speed up debris removal

HYDERABAD The human remains detection dog squad or cadaver sniffer dogs from Kerala made another attempt to trace the remaining seven persons trapped under the debris in the Srisailam Left Bank Canal tunnel since February 22, on the 25th day on Tuesday. The scientists of Geological Survey of India examined the tunnel collapse area again on Tuesday to find the geological changes, condition of the soil and rock formation layers, seepage of water and its impact, geological conditions in the tunnel route and others for making a detailed analysis to help speed up the debris removal and trace the trapped persons. According to the officials monitoring the rescue operation, Special Chief Secretary Arvind Kumar, District Collector of Nagarkurnool Santosh Badavath, Superintendent of Police Vaibhav Gaikwad held a review meeting at the tunnel site with the rescue agencies. The rescue teams’ leaders informed that cutting the tunnel boring machine platform into small parts was going on swiftly as also the removal of debris covering the TBM.
