What would Australia look like without live exports?
ABCThe live export of Australian animals — be that cattle, sheep, goats, dairy cows, buffalo, and even alpacas — is a lucrative and decades-old industry. "Investment in a chilled and frozen meat-only trade would prevent the suffering inherent to live export and save millions of animals from the cruel fate awaiting them at their destination and on-board ship," he said. "In Western Australia 30 per cent of sheep get sent to live export," Mr Dalgleish said. "Live export is very important for our community because for every two animals you send us I give one job for our people … so it has a huge impact," he said. "Australia is a world leader in animal welfare in the live export industry … and has been leading the world towards better standards of welfare over the last 30 years," he said.
