Court quashes summons to Arvind Kejriwal in 2017 Goa poll code violation case
India TodayA Bombay High Court bench in Goa on Tuesday quashed the summons issued by the judicial magistrate in Mapusa which asked Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal to personally appear in connection with a model code violation case filed by the Election Commission of India in 2017. The bench, comprising Justices MS Sonak and Valmiki SA Menezes, heard a petition filed by Kejriwal challenging the summons related to the 2017 Assembly election in Goa. The 2017 controversy stemmed from Arvind Kejriwal's remarks at a poll rally in Goa on January 8, where he allegedly encouraged voters to accept money from the BJP and Congress but vote for AAP. The case was registered against Arvind Kejriwal for violating Section 123 of the Representation of the People Act and sections 171 B and 171 E of the Indian Penal Code.
