Maruti Suzuki sales down 13 percent in August

New Delhi: The country’s largest car maker Maruti Suzuki India today reported 12.74 percent fall in sales for August to 91,442 units due to the ongoing labour unrest at its Manesar plant that affected production. The company had sold 1,04,791 units in the same month last year, Maruti Suzuki India said in a statement. Besides, the national capital-based company recorded sales of 77,086 units in the domestic market last month, a 16.82 percent fall from 92,674 units in August, 2010. The total passenger car sales in the domestic market dipped 19.21 percent to 63,296 units in August from 78,351 units in the same month of 2010, it added.
