University of Edinburgh warns wealthy students against 'snobbish' behaviour

India Today

The University of Edinburgh has issued a directive to students from privileged backgrounds, urging them to refrain from mocking the accents of their state-educated peers. According to a report in The Telegraph, the guidance targets students admitted through the university's widening participation programme, which lowers entry requirements for graduates from disadvantaged backgrounds. Over 70 percent of students at Edinburgh University come from England, with the remainder hailing from other parts of the UK or abroad. Oxford University came under heavy criticism last week after it was revealed that a student tragically took his own life due to the intense cancel culture on campus.
