Oscars 2025: Nominations delayed, voting extended due to Los Angeles wildfires

In light of the deadly wildfires in Los Angeles, the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences has extended the Oscar nomination voting window. The email also outlined additional scheduling changes: The International Feature Shortlist Screening, originally scheduled for Wednesday night in Los Angeles, has been postponed to later in the week. The in-person Los Angeles Sound Branch Bake-Off and Makeup Artists and Hairstylists Branch Bake-Offs in both Los Angeles and New York City, set for January 11, have been canceled. Meanwhile, at least five people have died as out-of-control wildfires continue to rage across Los Angeles, leaving a trail of widespread destruction and residents being forced out of their homes.
