According to the NSW Migration Heritage Centre website, more than two million migrants came to Australia between 1945 and 1965 after the Government embarked on "an intensive international promotional campaign to encourage migration to Australia". Mr Giancola also admits to having some regrets of not being taught Italian well enough to speak it, adding that "it's great just to have another language". But to stay "internationally competitive", she said it's important that Australia's workforce is "multilingual and multicultural".
