Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s address | Centre to take over vaccine procurement from States, provide free for 18-44 age group
The HinduPrime Minister Narendra Modi addressed the nation at 5 p.m. on Monday, hours after announcing the same on Twitter. He said the Centre, after observing developments during the deadly second wave of infections, has decided to once again take charge of procuring vaccines and will provide them to the States. Government of India spoke to State governments, leaders of political parties in parliament to come up with a road map to protect the most vulnerable first - health care workers, frontline workers, elderly were prioritised. The 25% procurement in the hands of States will be back with the Centre and free vaccines will be available for 18-44 age group too. PM Garib Kalyan Yojana Last year, when we had to impose a lockdown we disbursed free rations under PM Garib Kalyan Yojana for 8 months.
