Amitava Mukherjee assumes office as NMDC CMD

NMDC Director-Finance Amitava Mukherjee, who since March 2023 has been holding additional charge as the chairman and managing director, on Thursday assumed office as the CMD of the State-owned miner. A 1995 batch Indian Railway Accounts Services officer, Mr. Mukherjee served the Government of India in various capacities before ascending to the apex leadership of NMDC. In a release on his assuming charge as CMD, the company said under this leadership NMDC surpassed the 45 million tonne output in FY24 becoming the first iron-ore miner in the country to achieve the milestone. The company made inroads in gold mining in Australia and he played a defining role in commissioning of the NMDC Steel plant, NMDC said.
