'Grave Matter, Requires Immediate Attention' : Delhi High Court Takes Suo Moto Cognizance Of Rohini Court Firing Incident
Live LawThe Chief Justice led bench of the Delhi High Court has taken suo moto cognizance of the recent gun firing incident inside Delhi's Rohini Court hall. "This is a grave matter and requires immediate attention," observed the Bench of Chief Justice DN Patel and Justice Jyoti Singh at the outset.It has impleaded the Commissioner of Delhi Police, Ministry of Home Affairs and the Union Law Ministry. In its order, the Bench stated: There is a need for deployment of sufficient number of police personnel in all Court complexes in Delhi; There is also need for installation of more CCTV cameras, they must work round the clock; Full proof entry system is also required at all court complexes in Delhi, including in the High Court; Installation of hi-tech metal detectors and baggage scanners is also required; All the suggestions are to be shared with the Commissioner of Delhi Police, the Court said. The Chief Justice of India has expressed deep concerns at the incident and has spoken to the Chief Justice of the Delhi High Court in this regard.
