Patrick Peterson eager to show Steelers he’s still elite
Associated PressPITTSBURGH — Patrick Peterson knows he’s not 23 anymore. “I want to be able to be in position to continue to help my team, but also be in a position that’s gonna continue to help me be successful,” said Peterson, who had five interceptions and 15 passes defensed last year for Minnesota. “No one has to tell me, you know, ‘We think you should help this guy out,’” Peterson said. Why would I wanna hold on to that?” Peterson said he nearly came to Pittsburgh as a free agent last year before deciding to sign another one-year deal to remain with the Vikings. This time around, with a friendly nudge from cousin Bryant McFadden, who spent five years playing for Steelers coach Mike Tomlin, Peterson didn’t hesitate to join a team he thinks is close to re-emerging as contender.
