Zomato to sell food at unbeaten price to cut cancelled-orders wastage
India TodayA cancelled order could be your next meal and that, too, at a discount. The food delivery app Zomato has launched 'Food Rescue', an initiative which helps in turning food that will be wasted due to its cancellation into a pocket-friendly meal. This initiative has been launched by Zomato to tackle the problem of food wastage, wherein around 4 lakh orders are cancelled each month despite no-refund policies, states Zomato. Even Swiggy received 3.8 lakh cancellations every month and, that amounted to around 7 lakh kilograms of food wastage, which was enough to feed 3,000 people for a year, according to a Change Started report. This is a welcome initiative, as Zomato adds, despite their no refund on cancellation policy, around 4 lakh orders still get cancelled each month.
