Mahad building collapse: Death toll reaches 16, consultant held
The HinduAfter around 40 hours of rescue operation, 16 bodies were found while two persons were found alive beneath the rubble at the site of the Maharashtra’s Raigad district incident. Besides Mr. Dhamane, the Mahad city police on August 25 registered an offence against builder Farooq Kazi, architect Gaurav Shah, civic body engineer Shashikant Dighe and chief officer of Mahad Municipal Council Dipak Zinzad under Sections of 304, 304A, 337 and 338 of the IPC, he said. The deceased have been identified as Adil Haseem Shaikhnag, Roshanbi Dawoodkhan Deshmukh, Nauseen Nadeem Bangi, Mateen Mukadam, Fateem Shaukat Alsulkar, Naveed Jamane, Ismat Haseem Shaikhnag, Fatima Ansari, Shaukat Adam Alsulkar, Altamash Ballari, Ayesha Nauseen Bangi, Rukiya Nauseen Bangi, Abdul Hameed Kazi, Habeeba Dawood Hazware and Kamrunisa Ansari. The injured are Nameera Shaukat Alsurkar, Santosh Sahani, Fareeda Riyaz Pore, Jayprakash Kumar, Deepak Kumar, Swapnil Pramod Shirke, Naveed Hameed Duste and the two who were found alive beneath the rubble — Mohammad Nauseen Bangi and Mehrunisa Abdul Hameed Kazi.
