How to defend yourself in an XL Bully attack: Dangerous dog expert gives advice on what to do if you're mauled by the banned breed

The ban on American XL Bully dogs came into force on February 1, with owners facing criminal proceedings unless their pet is registered as exempt. Here is everything you need to know if you are attacked an XL Bully: How to defend yourself if you are attacked by an XL Bully dog A clip from an attack by an XL Bully on a small dog in a Hackney park in October last year A clip from a video showing a man being dragged into the road by an attacking dog in September last year A picture taken after an XL Bully attack on a Toddler in Greenwich, London in October last year On February 1, the ban on American XL Bully dogs came into force, with owners facing criminal proceedings unless their pet is registered as exempt After a string of ever more shocking attacks, XL Bullies were banned in England and Wales last week under the Dangerous Dogs Act, unless owners have a valid certificate of exemption, with possession punishable by a criminal record and unlimited fine. This includes XL Bully dogs without muzzles or leads on in public, however, any breed that is exhibiting dangerous or aggressive behaviour should be reported to the police or local authority. Assistant Chief Constable Mark Hobrough, the NPCC's dangerous dogs lead, said the public should report any dogs thought to be in breach of the new XL Bully ban, as reported by iNews. The National Police Chiefs' Council has urged anyone who sees a dog they think may be dangerous to report it to the police - including XL Bully without muzzles or leads in public Should you avoid XL Bully dogs?
