Farmers stage road blockade against road project in Dindigul

The residents of Othakadai in Dindigul district on Wednesday staged a road blockade demanding better compensation for lands being acquired for a ring road project. As part of the 21 km long 100 feet ring road project from Tiruchi road to Panjampatti, lands were being acquired around Othakadai, Periyakottai, Pillamma Nayakanpatti, Kasturi Nayakanpatti and other places. The farmers alleged that without any proper notification or adequate compensation to the farmers for lands acquired, the work for the project was going on in full swing. The officials held talks with the protesting farmers and assured them that they would take up the issue with the higher authorities.
