Need to do something: Top court notice to Centre over obscene content on YouTube
India TodayThe Supreme Court on Tuesday advocated for the regulation of obscene content on YouTube, stressing that "there was a need to do something", and that YouTubers were misusing the lack of regulation on online platforms. The top court's observation came after it heard YouTuber Ranveer Allahbadia's plea seeking the clubbing of FIRs filed against him over a crass joke he made on comedian Samay Raina's 'India's Got Latent' show that was streamed on the platform. ALLAHBADIA GETS RELIEF, BUT GETS SUPREME COURT RAP Earlier in the day, the Supreme Court protected Allahbadia, popularly known as 'BeerBiceps', from arrest over his vulgar remarks on the 'India's Got Latent' show and severely castigated him for his remarks, describing it as "showing a perverted mind". The top court also said that no FIR shall be registered against Allahbadia on the basis of the 'India's Got Latent' show and allowed him to approach local police in Maharashtra and Assam for protection in case of any threat impeding him to join the probe.
