No one injured during fire at Cowboys training camp hotel

New York Times

No one was injured during a fire that broke out Tuesday at the hotel where the Dallas Cowboys are staying for the team’s training camp in Oxnard, Calif., according to Oxnard Fire Department battalion chief Stephen McNaughten. In a statement, the Cowboys thanked the Oxnard Fire Department and the Oxnard Police Department for their “quick response and reaction to the situation.” Video and images posted to X on Tuesday showed smoke billowing from a room at the hotel as alarms blared with firefighters on the scene. The team uses two grass practice fields located a short walking distance from the hotel rooms where the team stays. They hosted a practice open to the public at 11 a.m. Cowboys coach Mike McCarthy told The Dallas Morning News that the fire alarms sounded with 15 minutes left in team meetings Tuesday and the situation was already under control as the team moved over to the practice field.
