Buttigieg attended the annual policy conference in Mackinac Island, Michigan The move puts Buttigieg in a politically important swing state where Democrats hold top offices The couple announced the birth of adoptive twins in September Buttigieg faces limitations in Indiana if he wants to put another elected office on his resume. The conservative state is home to former Vice President Mike Pence, although Buttigieg's former boss Barack Obama won the state in 2008.
