Bengaluru man gets 4 yrs in jail, Rs 10,000 fine for 'celebrating' 2019 Pulwama terror attack

India Today

A 22-year-old miscreant in Bengaluru who celebrated the Pulwama Terror attack was sentenced to five years imprisonment and fined Rs 10,000 rupees. The accused, Faiz Rashid from the Kacharkanahalli area in Bengaluru, celebrated the 2019 terror attack in Pulwama by taking to social media. Rasheed had allegedly made 23 comments on the posts of various media outlets celebrating the terrorist attack and mocking the Army. Therefore, in the opinion of the court, if three years imprisonment is imposed for the offence punishable under section 153A and 201 of IPC respectively and five years imprisonment is imposed for the offence punishable under section 13 of UA Act, it is proportionate to the crime committed by the accused," said the court, deciding the quantum of punishment.
