Why are southern states wary of delimitation? Understanding the exercise

With Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin reopening the debate surrounding delimitation, the most pertinent question to ask here is - why are the southern states wary of this exercise? Currently, southern states together hold 129 of 543 Lok Sabha seats: Andhra Pradesh: 25 seats Kerala: 20 seats Tamil Nadu: 39 seats Karnataka: 28 seats In the Lower House, 129 out of 543 seats is roughly about 24 per cent representation for the southern states. Now, if you look at projected seats for these states, based solely on population ratio of 20 lakh per constituency, the total Lok Sabha seats would become 753. In that case, the states’ representation in Lok Sabha would be somewhat Telangana: 20 Andhra Pradesh: 28 Kerala: 19 Tamil Nadu: 41 Karnataka: 36 Put together that would be 144 out of 753. If delimitation, based solely on population happens, the South’s share of Lok Sabha seats may drop to 19 per cent, while those of Hindi-speaking states could rise to about 60 per cent.
