Emotional ex-chief medical officer Dame Sally Davies makes heartfelt apology to Covid victims

Ex-CMO said patients had died 'horribly' and apologised to families of those lost Dame Sally Davies today apologised to families bereaved by Covid as she slammed the UK's failures in preparing for the pandemic. In an emotional apology, ex-chief medical officer Dame Sally Davies said how sorry she was to families of those who lost loved ones during the pandemic Dame Sally was England’s chief medical officer between 2010 and 2019. Dame Sally also told the inquiry that the impact of the pandemic on the UK was not down to health inequality but rather the 'lack of resilience in the public’s health', which included the nation's expanding waistlines. During the Covid Inquiry, she was also asked about another virus exercise, Cygnus, which was a 2016 government simulation of a flu outbreak to test the UK’s pandemic readiness.
