If Donald Trump polls as well as predicted in the Iowa caucus, the primaries for the US election may be over as quickly as they began

ABC

The sun never sets on election season in America, but today the debates, TV ads and rallies make way briefly for some actual voting. The respected Des Moines Register poll, typically released the weekend before the Iowa caucus, found former president Donald Trump had a commanding lead. Ambassador to the United Nations Nikki Haley speaks to a crowd gathered at Mickey's Irish Pub ahead of the Iowa caucus vote in Waukee, Iowa, U.S., January 9, 2024. The Des Moines Register poll over the weekend suggested Nikki Haley – a former UN ambassador appointed by Trump – may come second in the Iowa. If the primaries go the way the polls are suggesting, the biggest hurdles to Trump becoming president again may be the courts, and his Democratic opponent Joe Biden, who beat him once before.
