No evidence, CBI shuts preliminary probe against Lalu Prasad in bribery case

CBI has closed its preliminary inquiry against former Bihar Chief Minister and RJD patriarch Lalu Prasad in a 2018 bribery case after the agency found no concrete evidence. It was alleged that Lalu Prasad’s son Tejashwi and daughters Chanda and Ragini had bought a company AB Exports for Rs 4 lakh in 2011. Lalu Prasad walked out of a jail in Ranchi earlier this month after the Jharkhand High Court granted him bail in the fodder scam case in which he was awarded jail term. Out on bail after spending more than three years behind bars, Lalu Prasad held a much-awaited "virtual interaction" with RJD workers at his home in Bihar.
