World trusts Beijing as mediator for resolving conflicts peacefully
China DailyTourists congregate at the Bund area of Shanghai. The Myanmar National Democratic Alliance Army, an ethnic resistance group, affirmed this when it issued a statement on Tuesday declaring an immediate ceasefire and offering to begin peace talks with the Myanmar army under Chinese mediation. Thanks to China's continuous mediation, the representatives of the Myanmar army and Kokang and two other local armed groups in northern Myanmar successfully held peace talks in Kunming, China's Yunnan province, on Jan 10 and 11, and reached a formal ceasefire agreement. The Myanmar National Democratic Alliance Army's interest in talks with government forces will not only contribute to peace and stability, but also highlight China's constructive role as a major country. It hopes that all parties in Myanmar can earnestly implement the ceasefire agreement, exercise maximum restraint, resolve disputes through dialogue and consultation and push for substantive progress in the peace process in northern Myanmar.
