MVD inspection in Munnar collects ₹8 lakh as fine

The Motor Vehicle department in Munnar found over 300 traffic-related violations and a total of ₹8 lakh was imposed as fine in its ongoing inspection. “Within four days of the inspection, the MVD has already collected nearly ₹8 lakh as fine and booked over 300 traffic-related violations. Violations include absence of insurance, permits, parallel taxi services, over-speed, among others,” said an MVD official. Earlier, a group of taxi drivers had waved black flag when the Transport Minister had arrived for the inauguration of the KSRTC double-decker bus service in Munnar, protesting against this service.
