Telangana wants Centre to provide technical clearances for Regional Ring Road

Telangana Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy urged the Union Minister for Road Transport and National Highways Nitin Gadkari to sanction the required technical and financial clearances for the northern part of Regional Ring Road. Reddy informed the Union road transport minister that the 159-km stretch in the northern part of RRR was declared National Highway 161AA in 2017. Reddy told Gadkari that while 125 km of the highway met national standards, a 62-km stretch ran through the Amrabad forest area and hadn’t been developed due to Forest and Environment Department regulations. The Telangana Chief Minister requested Gadkari to approve the construction of a four-lane elevated corridor through the forest area and allocate funds for it in the 2024-25 budget.
