Revenue Minister KKSSR Ramachandran inspects low lying areas in Tenkasi district; says 70 people were rescued and taken to a relief centre
The HinduMinister for Revenue and Disaster Management KKSSR Ramachandran visited low-lying areas, causeways and the bridge where the rain water was overflowing on Saturday. Camping in Tenkasi district, he went on a tour for the second day accompanied by District Monitoring Officer Shankar, Collector A. K. Kamal Kishore, DRO Jayachandran and other elected representatives from the panchayat unions and panchayats. Similarly, officials from the Water Resources and Revenue Departments closely monitored the Gundar dam, the bridge leading to the Perianayagam Temple in Kadayanallur block and other locations. The precautionary measures taken by the district administration had saved many lives and also properties including milch animals, he said and added that he visited the Courtallam waterfalls where the post-mortem on the carcass of the three-year-old elephant calf was conducted.
